A massive white portico with spacious upper and lower galleries elegantly frames Magnolia Hall's front entrance, while similar galleries grace the back of the home.  Inside, beautifully appointed rooms feature elaborate, high relief magnolia-and-leaf ceiling medallions.  An imposing mahogany staircase ascends from an expansive entrance hall to the upper floor

This magnificent home was built in 1858 by Thomas Henderson, planter, merchant and elder in the nearby First Presbyterian Church.  It is one of the three most outstanding examples of Greek Revival architecture in Natchez.

Downstairs, spacious rooms are furnished with beautiful antiques of the period, while the upper floor showcases the only costume museum in Natchez and an intriguing antique doll collection.

Magnolia Hall was the last great mansion to be completed in Natchez before the outbreak of the Civil War, and was damaged during that conflict by the Union gunboat Essex.

Magnolia Hall is listed in the National Register of Historic Places, and is on tour Monday through Saturday beginning at 9:30 a.m., with the last tour starting at 3:30 p.m.  There is a gift shop on the premises.
